Behind Every Artisane Experience: Meet Our Team

For a long time, Artisane was very much a one-woman operation. I was the person answering every email, preparing every fragrance, packing every box, carrying every bag, setting every table and, of course, hosting every experience.

Like many founders, I became accustomed to doing everything myself - partly out of necessity, and partly because when you have built something from the ground up, learning to hand pieces of it to someone else can be surprisingly difficult.

But a business cannot truly grow if its founder has to be everywhere at once.

Over the past few months, one of the most exciting changes happening behind the scenes at Artisane has been the development of our team. As our experiences have grown in size and we have begun working with more corporate clients, hospitality partners and larger groups, I have had the opportunity to bring together a wonderful group of people who now help make these moments possible.

Our recent summer activation at Brookfield Place captured that evolution perfectly. Over the course of three hours, we welcomed around 70 guests for an interactive scent and candle-making experience. There were fragrances to explore, candles to create, conversations happening simultaneously and dozens of small details to manage behind the scenes. What once would have felt overwhelming became something completely different: a team moving together, each person understanding their role while still bringing their own warmth and personality to the experience.

Building a team has also required me to learn a different side of entrepreneurship. There is a particular comfort in doing everything yourself because you know exactly how you want something done. Delegating requires trust. It means explaining not only what we do, but why we do it that way - how we welcome a guest, how we speak about fragrance, how we prepare a table and how we make an experience involving dozens of people still feel thoughtful and personal.

What I have discovered is that the right people don't dilute what you have created. They allow it to expand.

For Artisane, growth has never been about producing as many events as possible. I want us to grow while protecting the qualities that made these experiences special in the first place: curiosity, beauty, attention to detail and genuine human connection. Having a team means we can welcome more people, take on more ambitious projects and eventually bring our experiences into new spaces without losing that intimacy.

There is also something deeply rewarding about looking around during an event and realizing that something that once existed entirely in my head is now being carried by other people. They know the fragrances. They know the rhythm of the experience. They anticipate what a guest might need. They represent Artisane with care.

The photograph accompanying this piece was taken after our Brookfield Place activation, and for me it represents much more than a successful event. It marks a new chapter for Artisane, one in which I am learning that building a company isn't simply about creating something people want. It is also about building the team that can help carry that vision forward.

And we're only getting started.
